Eroded Frontier is an original science fiction story published here in serialized form on Gun Dog Yoga. While much of this site is devoted to dogs, hunting, field life, and reflection rooted in the real world, this project ventures into fiction — carrying some of those same themes into a distant and harsher landscape.
At its center, Eroded Frontier is a story of war, ecology, loyalty, colonization, and the bond between a hunter and his dog. New chapters will be published here as they are completed.
About the Novel
Earth exhausted its own soil long ago.
Now humanity has crossed the stars in search of a world that can still feed it.
On a distant prairie planet of twin suns and frontier outposts, Captain Carter and his dog Caleb serve as an elite hunter-killer team charged with eradicating the spurbacks — lethal native predators whose presence threatens the agricultural colonies meant to secure mankind’s future. But when a mission goes wrong and Caleb is badly wounded, Carter is forced into refuge at a remote farming station, where he begins to uncover a dangerous truth: the creatures he has been sent to destroy may be tied to the health of the land itself.
As crops fail, loyalties fracture, and the cost of human expansion grows bloodier, Carter must choose between obedience to a desperate system and allegiance to a deeper order he barely understands.
